LG Y Drive Lower Board for V6 PDP Units 6871QDH067B
This is a Y drive lower board which is suitable for any plasma television using an LG V6 PDP, (plasma display panel), unit. Many manufacturers use the LG V6 PDP unit as the screen for their televisions. The PDP unit is basically the main screen assembly and fitted onto the screen are two scanning boards and a controller board. The manufacturer fits onto the PDP their own power supply and video board. This gives the television its own personality as designed by the manufacturer.
Failure of the Y drive lower board is common in models with the P6 PDP and can cause various symptoms as follows
- No picture, sound present
- Lower part of picture missing
- The entire picture covered in coloured horizontal lines
- The lower part of the picture covered in coloured horizontal lines
The part number of the pcb is 6871QDH067B. This board is also suitable for replacement of the 6871QDH067A. In order to identify if this kit is suitable for your repair you need to identify the PDP unit fitted by opening the set and reading the white label at the top of the panel. It should so show aV6 in the type number. There are various models which can be repaired with this item and the following is a list of models known to us at this moment in time
- LG RZ42PX11
- Goodmans GTVP2V5
- Hyundai HPT4241
- Many more models
The procedure to check and replace the Y drive lower board is straight forward. The part supplied is as supplied by LG for engineers to fit. Only purchase this part if you are knowledgeable in the repair of electrical equipment.
If you have a plasma tv with a V6 PDP with any of the above symptoms then remove the rear cover and use a multimeter to check the resistance between the upper and lower connection planes on the board. A low resistance (60 ohms) indicates a fault in the board. It is easy to check the board in another way. Loosen the screws and remove the board from the socket on Y sustain board. Fold it back and apply power to the set. If the set then functions with the lower part of the picture missing then the Y drive lower board is defininitely defective.
To replace the board remove the two securing screws then fold the board back and remove the white link cable to the upper Y drive board. You can then lift up the four flexible cable locking bars on the four connectors. You must be careful not to tear the flexible cables. If you do then the set has reached the end of its life. Refitting is the reverse of the procedure. It can be very tricky to refit the flexible cables back into the connectors on the new board. You need to be patient and be careful not to tear the cables. Push the locking bars down one at a time until all four cables are secured. No adjustments or alignments are required after replacing this board.
